Genoa, Nev. — What has become an annual tradition, county commissioners are meeting at Lake Tahoe to hash out vacation home rental issues. The final agenda will discuss the postponed report on the issue. Commissioners meet 10 a.m. at 128 Market St. in Stateline at the offices of the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency.

A 9:15 a.m. Wednesday power outage affecting nearly 400 NV Energy customers in Minden. A smell of smoke after the power came back on resulted in the evacuation of Grace Christian Academy. Firefighters didn’t determine a source and power was restored around 10:20 a.m.

A Halloween Toddler Time is 9-11 a.m. today at the Douglas County Community & Senior Center, 1329 Waterloo Lane in Gardnerville. Trick-or-treating starts at 10:15 a.m. Information, 775-782-5500, ext. 1. 

Carson Valley Community Food Closet and the Family Support Council are hosting a free costume patch 2-5 p.m. today at 1251 Waterloo Lane. 

Alpine County Victim Witness Program and Live Violence Free host a domestic violence awareness walk and story 11 a.m. today on Highway 88 just past Picketts Junction.

The final Third Thursday Wine Walk of the season is 4:30-7:30 p.m. today in downtown Gardnerville. Visit mainstreetgardnerville.org for more information.

Today will be a warm one with a forecast high temperature of 84 degrees under sunny skies. That’s about 4 degrees short of the 88-degree record for the day set in 2020 in Minden. The 5 mph north breeze may keep some of the smoke at bay.
