Douglas animal authorities are consulting with local veterinarians about dog flu in the wake of social media activity in Western Nevada. According to the CDC, dog flu is a lot like people flu. There’s even a vaccine. If you’re boarding your dog for a holiday trip or are just concerned, talk to your vet.
On the recall beat, Lenovo USB-C Laptop power banks are being recalled because they have loose screws that could short out the lithium ion battery. The recalled banks have part number 40ALLG2WWW and the model number PBLG2W located on the product label, and a red Lenovo tag on them.
Monitor Pass reopened on Monday, as predicted, but I bet we’ll get word it and its cousins Ebbetts and Sonora passes will close ahead of Wednesday’s storms.
Construction on Highway 395 through town has moved south and shortened the lane closure. It doesn’t sound like it will interfere with Parade of Lights, since workers will be south of Eddy Street and most of the heavy operations are saved for the week, according to NDOT.
The county closed East Valley Road starting Monday between Fremont and Grandview to conduct drainage work. The road will be closed 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. through Dec. 1.
There could be light snow for Gardnerville’s Christmas Kickoff on Thursday evening. The forecast doesn’t appear to preclude the fireworks, but it’s early yet.
Today and Wednesday will see some nice Christmas light-hanging weather with sunny skies and highs in the upper 40s. There was a report of someone falling off a ladder on Monday, a reminder to be careful.
