After taking a break from burning during the week of Thanksgiving, Tahoe Fire & Fuels Team members are scheduled to resume prescribed fire operations this week at Lake Tahoe, conditions and weather permitting.

Smoke from these operations may be present throughout the Lake Tahoe Basin and possibly visible over the Carson Range from burns at Spooner and Glenbrook.

With temperatures down to the teens, woodstoves in Carson Valley will be contributing to the general smoke overnight, while backyard and agricultural burns continue.

Fall open burning closes on Dec. 17, so there’s a little time to catch up on the landscape waste.
