Gov. Joe Lombardo’s Chief of Staff Ben Kieckhefer will be the speaker at a joint meeting luncheon between the Business Council of Douglas County and the Carson Valley Chamber of Commerce at the Carson Valley Inn on March 15.

Kieckhefer served as the Senate Assistant Minority Leader at the Nevada Legislature.  His legislative accomplishments include the creation of Nevada’s first need based scholarship program for community college students, the development of alternate routes to licensure for Nevada teachers, the creation of a statutory sunset committee to review state government operations, and legislation cracking down on child sex offenders.  In 2021, Gov. Sisolak appointed Kieckhefer to the Nevada Gaming Commission.

He has served as director of client relations at McDonald Carano and was responsible for the strategic development and execution of firmwide client relations initiatives.

Prior to joining McDonald Carano, he was communications director for Gov. Jim Gibbons and public information officer for the Department of Health and Human Services. He is also a former journalist, having worked for the Reno Gazette-Journal and the Associated Press covering government and politics.
