Eagles and Agriculture doesn’t get any more agricultural than watching a calf born during Saturday’s ranch tour and dodging a snowstorm on Sunday.

“We toured frozen wetlands and the slough on the River Fork Ranch,” Chamber Director Alicia Main said. “We had a wonderful walk through the snow on the interpretive trail in Faye Luther Canyon.”

The four-day event observed its 21st birthday this past Thursday through Sunday.

The weather was perfect for three of those days, but Sunday saw 4-5 inches of snow fall in the Valley.

“The snow held off just enough on Sunday for us to get back to the Dangberg Ranch one last time and to see eagles (and turkeys) at the southern end of the valley,” Main said. “From the Thursday reception back at the Douglas County Community Center to the Sunday Highway and Byway tour through the light flurries, participants were genuinely impressed by the beauty of the creatures and hospitality of the community.”

The deadline for the Eagles and Ag Photo Contest is Feb. 10.

Photos taken between Feb. 22, 2022, and Jan. 29 are eligible for submission to the Carson Valley Chamber of Commerce, 1477 Main St., Suite A, Gardnerville.

There is a $125 cash prize for the best eagle image and the best agricultural-wildlife image. Participants must sign a release to be eligible. For information, call Main at 775-782-8144 or alicia@carsonvalleynv.org. For more information, visit www.carsonvalleynv.org
