The Nevada Division of Outdoor Recreation announced that Denise K. Beronio has been appointed as administrator.

She will take over for Colin Robertson, who resigned as administrator in February 2023 to return to working for the Nevada Museum of Art.

As administrator, Beronio will help promote Nevada's outdoor recreation opportunities and the conservation of its natural environment.

Beronio has lived in Douglas County for more than 30 years and is an avid outdoor enthusiast and lifelong equestrian.

Beronio currently sits on the Douglas County Sheriff’s Advisory Council, has served on various Douglas County School District committees, and has volunteered with the Nevada Department of Wildlife and local hunting organizations. Recently, Beronio has worked as a senior mortgage loan officer with Prime Lending Co. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business management from the University of Nevada, Reno.

“Denise Beronio is a long-time Nevadan and a life-long outdoor advocate,” said Director James Settelmeyer. “She has always supported conservation and outdoor recreation through her work and her passion for wildlife. I am confident she will help Nevada continue to thrive as an accessible, equitable, and unique outdoor destination.”

She is the daughter of Minden residents Judy and former county and planning commissioner Larry Walsh, who presently sits on the Minden Town Board.
