Genoa, Nev. — East Fork Fire Protection District trustees heard a presentation on potential fire regulations at their regular meeting on Tuesday which include either a fire sprinkler system or a static water tank to meet required fire flow for new construction more than 1,000 feet from a hydrant.


The Vacation Home Rental advisory panel is tackling the county code governing the rentals at Tahoe Township. The meeting is 10 a.m. at Kahle Community Center in Stateline. You can find out more at www.douglascountynv.gov and click on agendas.


The handwashing stations and portable toilets have arrived in Genoa in preparation for Candy Dance. As preparations continue for the biggest annual Carson Valley event, expect more congestion.


Firefighters responded to a report of a home on fire on Clay Circle in Topaz Ranch Estates around 7 p.m. Tuesday. They didn’t see any smoke on their arrival and cleared pretty quickly. I’ll follow up today.


Firefighters and law enforcement responded to a four-vehicle collision near Mica Drive and Highway 395 in the southbound lanes. Medics on scene say there are no injuries but expect a slowdown through there while the wreckage is cleared.


More rain fell on Tuesday and early this morning. My gauge has .15 inches in it, bringing the total from the storm to .36, so far. Fredericksburg resident Jeff Garvin reports .07 today for a total of .18.


There’s snow in the high Sierra this morning, with the Heavenly fire camera showing a little bit in the Carson Range. The snow level today is supposed to be around 8,000 feet.


The odds for more showers picks up after noon today with a possibility of thunderstorms before the storm starts to clear around 4 p.m. Clear skies tonight will see temperatures drop down to 36 degrees in Minden, though there may be some colder spots across the Valley.
