Nevada has a closed primary system which means that only Republicans and Democrats get to vote for partisan candidates in their respective parties.

The only local nonpartisan race on the primary ballot is for the Douglas County School Board seat being vacated by Ross Chichester due to term limits. Sample ballots are supposed to go out around May 11, according to the Nevada Secretary of State’s Office.

Ballots are expected to be mailed to active voters around May 25, three days before the first day of in-person early voting on May 28. In-person early voting continues through June 10, when preparations for the June 14 Election Day which falls on Flag Day.
