Dangberg announces July schedule

The 2022 Summer Festival at the Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park started out strong on Thursday when a concert featuring Lacy J. Dalton sold out.

This weekend summer events continue 10-11 a.m. Saturday with graduates from the 2021 Chautauqua 101 Class portraying four historical figures.

Karen Dustman will portray Antoinette Chalmers who was first the housekeeper and then wife of famous Silver Mountain City mining capitalist Louis Chalmers. Ross S. Mortensen will portray Smiling Jack Davis who was a Virginia City businessman by day and shady stage robber by night. Dorothea Phelan will portray Señora del Evalle who was the Dona of Rancho Camulos located near Piru, Calif. LCora Johnson will portray Hannah K. Clapp who was famous in Carson City for not only establishing the Sierra Seminary in 1861, but also for the fence around the State Capitol building. This is a free event for all to attend.

Wednesday evening Chautauqua tickets are $15 for adults and are available online at dangberg.eventbrite.com. Members of the nonprofit Friends of Dangberg can purchase discounted tickets at $10 each and should contact the park directly to make arrangements. Youth 16 and younger enter for free when accompanied by a ticketed adult.

This and other Chautauqua programs at the park in 2022 are funded in part by a grant from Nevada Humanities and the National Endowment for the Humanities

On July 14, from the Catahoula Mardi Gras Party band from Reno is performing 6:30 p.m.

All events are held outdoors under a tent for shading. Please bring your own seating, and no pets allowed--certified service animals only. Guests are welcome to bring food or beverage, as none will be sold at this event.

"We are more than excited about our Summer Festival line-up for the remainder of July," said Parts Events Manager Kim Harris.

Upcoming events for the festival season include Wendell Huffman presenting "Wood for the Comstock", Sunday; Doug Mishler as Dwight D. Eisenhower, July 20; and David Woodruff presenting "Reflections of Lake Tahoe," July 30.
