Carson Valley Photo Club members conducted their first meeting of the year on Jan. 11 via Zoom with 22 in attendance.

One of the first orders of business was to welcome new officers including President Susan Roaldson, Vice President Bill Gosma, Treasurer Barbara Mower and Secretary Sandra Silva. Mower also serves as the club’s webmaster.

The club is open to Northern Nevada residents. For information, visit the club’s Facebook page. Annual dues are $36 for a single membership, $54 for a couple in one household. There is a questionnaire on our Facebook page to fill out to become a member.

John Humphrey was our guest speaker as the club prepared for last weekend’s annual Eagles and Agriculture photography show conducted by the Carson Valley Chamber of Commerce.

The club will be planning photo outings in the future for members.

The club photo theme for January was “Holiday Lights.”

First place is Robin Grueninger and her photo “Virginia City Trains.” Second place was awarded to N. J. Thompson and her photograph “Sensorio No. 1.” The third-place winner was “Holiday Bubbles” by Sandra Silva. Gosma served as the contest judge.

Photojournalist Matthew Henderson will conduct a presentation on wildfire photography at the club’s Feb. 8 meeting.

The club will continue holding its monthly meetings virtually 6:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month.
