Genoa, Nev. — It’s decision time for the East Fork Fire Protection Board on regulations for new construction in the county. The board meets 1 p.m. in the district offices at 1694 County Road.

East Fork paramedics are getting a $10,000 Christmas check from Genoan and Daniel’s owner Lois Wray, which I’m certain the district board will accept with thanks on behalf of all of us.

Power is out to thousands of Californians in Humboldt County after a 6.4 magnitude earthquake occurred just off the coast at around 2:34 a.m. today. The spot is near the juncture of three continental plates where the San Andreas Fault heads out into the Pacific.

The did you feel it graph at earthquake.usgs.gov did not include a response from a single Nevadan. That big old wall to the west of us must have kept the quake down.

I had to shift gears on Monday after looking out the window and seeing the Pine Nuts. It was nice to see the sun. The low dropped to 28 degrees as of 6 a.m. today, so warmer than the highs over the weekend.

Today expect a high temperature of 46 degrees, with conditions warming up to almost 60 by Christmas Day. Not much in the way of weather forecast through Sunday. We might see a little atmospheric river action the middle of next week, but don’t break out the ark just yet.
