Two fires burning near Yosemite are sending drift smoke north into the Carson Valley on Tuesday evening.

The 2,083-acre Red Fire and the 1,518-acre Rodgers Fire have been burning for weeks after being set by Aug. 4 and 8 lightning storms.

Both fires have burned up to natural barriers and there are fewer than 40 firefighters working both blazes.

Fire.airnow.gov shows smoke from the two fires wafting northward into Carson Valley. It doesn’t appear to have affected air quality in the Valley as of Tuesday night, but sensors in Mono County have shown some degradation.
