Genoa, Nev. — With an extensive list to go through for federal recovery funds, commissioners took four hours to approve requests from the Sheriff’s Office, East Fork Fire Protection District and the storm drain under Gardnerville Station. The rest of the list will come back in 60 days. They approved the five-year plan.


Library Board members are switching up plans for interviews, going virtual next week to talk to 3-6 candidates for director before having a meet and greet in mid-May. We should find out who the finalists are later this week. The job pays around $97,000 a year, not including benefits.


New Audit Committee member Martha Scheuermann takes her seat in May. I got a little ahead of myself on Tuesday.


The big cargo planes made an appearance on Tuesday morning at Minden-Tahoe Airport. I wasn’t quite sure when that was going to happen when I included the note on Monday.


The Vacation Home Rental panel hears the first appeal of a $20,000 fine since the lawsuit challenging the ordinance was settled. They meet at 1 p.m. today in the Douglas County Courthouse, 1616 Eighth St.


Monitor Pass reopened on Tuesday after being closed since April 7 for the string of storms. Tioga, Sonora and Ebbetts passes remain closed while they’re being cleared.


Today expect mostly sunny skies and a high of 69 degrees. The southwest wind will be 5-10 mph shifting west to 10-15 mph.
