UNR Cooperative Extension is celebrating National Pollinator Month in June.

Pollinators are often keystone species, meaning that other species depend on what they do to live.

Business and residents are invited to join in the planning for the month which will include events.

Some tips on how residents can celebrate and protect pollinators are:

1. Grow pollinator friendly plants.

2. Provide nesting and egg-laying sites, and other shelter as needed. 3. Avoid pesticides.

Planning committee meetings are 3-5 p.m. April 11 and 25; May 9 and 23 at 1325 Waterloo Lane, Gardnerville
