Genoa, Nev. — Work is expected to begin today on the demolition of the former Lakeside Inn. Barton Healthcare System purchased the Lakeside property in Stateline last year and plans to convert it to a medical campus.


There may be some challenges parking as the expansion of Carson Valley Medical Center in Gardnerville gets underway, which is also happening today.


A substantial balloon launch took place just south of the Douglas County Community and Senior Center in Gardnerville early Saturday morning.


There was a full house at St. Gall Catholic Church for former County Commissioner Jim Baushke’s celebration of life on Saturday, which featured military honors for the Air Force and Civil Air Patrol veteran.


A wind advisory is in effect 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. today with forecast west winds of 20-30 mph, gusting to 50 mph. Wind prone areas of the Valley like the Highway 395-88 corridor could see gusts of up to 60 mph.


We could see power outages, rolling garbage cans and dancing patio furniture in the blustery conditions, so maybe check to see if those things are secure this morning.


The forecast calls for partly sunny skies, and a high near 67 degrees. There isn’t any moisture attached to this front, and the high is expected to crack 84 degrees by Thursday.
