Genoa, Nev. — The road work that was supposed to reduce Highway 50 at Cave Rock to one lane either way will be occurring 7 a.m. to noon today after it got snowed out on Monday. Southbound traffic will be routed through the northbound tunnel while they clear rocks from the top of the tunnel.

According to the Bureau of Land Management update going to Douglas County commissioners 1 p.m. today, there isn’t much movement on Painted Rock Mine, but there is progress on the Van Sickle Ranch and Dangberg conservation easements. Commissioners are meeting at the Douglas County Courthouse, 1616 Eighth St. Minden.

A critical race theory town hall is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Douglas High School and via Zoom. You can visit www.dcsd.k12.nv.us to find out how to participate virtually. School Board trustees will discuss what to do with the information they gather at the Nov. 9 meeting.

The last Main Street Gardnerville Wine Walk of the season is 4:30-7:30 p.m. today in beautiful downtown Gardnerville. Register at Big Daddy’s Bike & Brew or Gardnerville Station. If you’re new, it’s $20. If you’ve got your forever glass, it’s $15.

There’s a flash flood watch for the Dixie burn scar up Susanville way tonight. There’s a tentative chance of rain in the forecast for Carson Valley after 11 a.m. today, but I wouldn’t worry too much about it.

Another weak weather front is expected to roll through tonight with most of the weather north of Ebbetts Pass, which includes us, barely. The brunt of the storm is expected to spill over late Friday morning.

Otherwise, today might actually be nice with a high temperature of 69 degrees under mostly sunny skies with the wind out of the southeast 5-10 mph shifting southwest this afternoon.
