The Wells Fargo Advisors office in Minden is closing with a bang, or more accurately without bangs, according to Senior Vice President Investments Thor Teigen.

Tiegen was the last person in the office, which was previously AGEdwards.

He hasn’t had a haircut since the beginning of the pandemic and in an effort to give back, he’s offering to match up to $1,000 donations each to the Douglas County Historical Society and Austin’s House.

Tiegen has been advising Carson Valley residents about their finances for 16 years.

He pledged in March 2020 not to get a haircut until there was a vaccine, especially since getting an appointment was next to impossible.

“What began as a joke between my family and friends that I should wait to cut my hair until a vaccine was available is now becoming a reality,” he said.

He plans to donate his hair to Locks of Love. Fr8tas Salon owner Norma Freitas will be cutting Teigen’s hair.

“The minimum desired length is 10 inches and although I'm not there yet I'm getting close,” he said. “My staff and I have enjoyed providing Financial Services to the community for the last 16 years and will continue to do so from our Reno offices at 775-688-3981.”

Teigen expects he will be cutting his hair sometime in June.

Anyone who would like to double the impact of their donations, should contact Marla Morris at Austin's House at 775-267-6711 or the Douglas County Historical Society at 775-782-2555. Donors should refer to Thor’s Locks.
