Gardnerville author publishes second book

Gardnerville author and former Record-Courier reporter Scott Neuffer has published his second book.

“Range of Light,” is a 180-page novel that combines elements of satire, neo-noir thriller and geopolitical thriller set at Yosemite’s Mist Trail.

The book focuses on the unraveling lives of three strangers who meet on the trail.

“The title comes from the name John Muir gave to the mountains he loved,” Neuffer said. “Having grown up in the Sierra, I feel the same way. Though dark at times, this book is a testament to the awe and power of the Sierra Nevada and captures in fiction both the inner and outer lives of people.”

A 2000 Douglas High School graduate, Neuffer wrote for The Record-Courier for six years, leaving in 2013 to pursue his literary career. He was an intern for the paper in 2000. His school coverage was recognized by the Nevada Association of School Boards in 2010.

Neuffer was named a Nevada Journalist of Merit in 2011 by the Nevada Press Association. He also shared a community service award for the school district’s coverage of the Springboard curriculum.

Neuffer’s first book was a collection of short stories “Scars of the New Order” published in 2014.

“Range of Light” became available for purchase on Oct. 22 and is available in hardcover, softcover and Ebook from www.bhcpress.com.
