Genoa, Nev. — A Douglas man in his 80s was the seventh person to succumb to the coronavirus, health officials said on Tuesday. Six of those people died since Nov. 4. Douglas had another 33 people reported to be positive, bringing the county to 817 active cases and 582 recoveries, according to Carson City Health and Human Services.

Tuesday’s testing at the Sunridge Fire Station had cars lined up in the parking lots of Hilltop Church and Sierra Lutheran High School. Emergency Manager Tod Carlini said 440 people tested. Only folks with positive results will be contacted. Those who are clear were given a web site to check.

Planning commissioners approved the Buckeye Farms Agrihood on Tuesday by a 4-2 vote. Dave Akola won’t vote for any project until he sees a hydrologic study that says there’s enough water, and Maureen Casey said she liked the plan, but wasn’t comfortable voting for it, since it’s allowed to change.

I believe Carson Valley’s newest thoroughfare, Santa Anita Avenue, is leaving the gate today. There are traffic pattern change signs at 88 and 395 in Minden, and that road looks pert near done.

Forecasters say there’s just a chance that the dry weather pattern we’ve had since Thanksgiving could break down starting Thursday. We could see some precipitation over the weekend, maybe.

Expect hazy conditions today due to an inversion, with otherwise mostly sunny skies and a high near 56 degrees. The wind will pick up out of the north at 5-10 mph.
