John Emerson Adams


January 1, 1944 – November 21, 2020

John E. Adams, resident of Gardnerville since 2003 passed away peacefully after a prolonged battle against cancer on 21 Nov, 2020. He was 76.

John was born on the first day of 1944 in Jackson County, Missouri. After graduating High School, he served in the U.S. Air Force for 7 years. Following his term of service, he worked in various positions throughout California primarily as an accountant. This is where he met his soulmate, Carol Drummond. Together they moved to Gardnerville in 2003 and purchased a home.

John has been an avid volunteer in our community. He served as a board member and treasurer of the Kids’ Fishing Derby for 17 years. He was an enthusiastic member of the Carson Valley United Methodist Church having served on multiple committees. He also supervised the Church Senior Lunch program serving meals to valley seniors on a monthly basis. John was also an active member of the Kiwanis Club of Carson Valley having served in multiple capacities for 15 years. His caring and giving nature was a positive example for all who met him in Carson Valley. He will be missed by his many close friends.

He leaves behind his cherished partner of 27 years, Margaret Carol Drummond currently residing with her son in the state of Washington. John is also survived by his sister Lorie Meacham of Grass Valley, CA, his daughter, Jana Kay Adams, his son John Emerson Adams, Jr. and two grandchildren Katherine Elizabeth Adams and Jeffrey Scott Adams of Cape Coral, FL., and two godchildren Meridith Joyce and Opal Rose Joyce.

At John’s request there will be no services at this time. There will be a Celebration of Life to be scheduled later.
