WINNEMUCCA — After nearly two weeks since its last game, a double-digit loss to Elko, one of the best teams in Northern Nevada, the Lowry High School boys basketball team, was back on its home floor Thursday afternoon against Carson.
The Buckaroos were hot from the start and connected on four 3-point field goals in the first quarter en route to a 68-38 victory over the Senators. Lowry improved to 6-3 on the year and Carson dropped to 2-8.
Lowry scored 12 of the first 14 points of the contest and led 19-6 after a quarter of play. The Buckaroos led by as many as 17 points in the second quarter, when Carson cut the gap to 24-14 after five straight points by Parsa Hadjighasemi. The Senators kept the deficit at 10 points, 28-18 going into halftime.
However, Lowry regained the momentum out of the break with a 21-9 run in the third quarter and never looked back. The Buckaroo advantage reached 30 in the fourth quarter.
Hadjighasemi was the only Carson player in double figures with 10 points. Nathan Smothers added seven points and Joey Summers had six points. Lucas Vanbrow and Colton Schafer each had five points.
Lowry’s Kobe Stoker led all players with 18 points and Brendan Domire had 13 points.
