The Carson Senator girls’ alpine ski team finished fourth Tuesday at Kirkwood Mountain Resort in the second Tahoe Basin Ski League meet of the season.

The boys finished seventh with just three skiers recording times in the giant slalom event. In the combined results, Carson finished sixth out of seven teams.

The girls’ team earned its result despite its best skier, Brynn Punty, not finishing her second run to record an overall time.

Sarah Wiggins led Carson down the slopes by finishing 19th in a field of 35 with a pair of nearly identical runs. She finished her first run in the morning in 33.63 seconds. Her second run was clocked at 33.77 (67.40).

Also for the Senators, Faith Luis was 28th (79.85) Isabella Bertrand was 31st and Hailey Coe was 32nd.

Trevor Castillo finished 28th out of 38 to lead the boys’ effort.

The first meet of the season was held Dec. 13 at Alpine Meadows.

Punty charged to an 18th-place finish out of 58 who posted two-run times. Punty was 19th best in each of her runs and her combined total (1 minute, 18.88 seconds) was good for 18th.

Also for the girls, Wiggins was 32nd (1:34.51), Coe was 36th, Luis was 43rd, Veronica Burson was 45th and Jasmeen Thind was 49th.

Castillo led the boys in 42nd place.

The next meet is at 10 a.m., on Jan. 9, at Heavenly Mountain Resort.
