The Lady Wave golfers made a strong showing during last week’s state tournament in Pahrump, either improving or holding steady to averages.

Kaitlyn Hunter finished with a total score of 227; on Wednesday she scored 114, then 113 Thursday. Allie Lister finished with a score of 206, hitting 97 on day one and 109 on day two.

“I was extremely excited to get a 97 and finally break 100,” Lister said of her performance.

Fallon coach Sandy Vanderbeek said she’s proud of both golfers. She said Lister had a rough day Thursday, but was able to compose herself to finish strong. Lister had a personal best on day one and was under average day two; Hunter, meanwhile, played a steady game both days.

Vanderbeek said both Fallon golfers scored well and stayed out of trouble.

Lister said the tournament went well and it was interesting playing with the players from the south. She added she feels they gave her good competition.

Vanderbeek said it was a good tournament and the course was a great choice. She said it was fair to various experience levels; it had a mix of basics as well as more challenging areas and the weather was perfect.

“The course was a great choice for the venue,” Vanderbeek said. “I thought it was a fair course for all levels of play.”
