Four members of the Churchill County High School boys and girls soccer programs received all-league nominations as well as a coaches award.

For the girls’ team, Jordyn Dahl was named to the second team with goalkeeper Samantha Hines receiving an honorable mention. Sara Rodarte was also given the coaches award for the season.

For the boys, goalkeeper Cesar Molina was named to the second team and Bryan Ugalde received an honorable mention.

Hines was the league leader as goalkeeper, tallying 135 saves, the most in the Northern 3A. Coach Randy Hines said she received a number of compliments from other coaches during the season. He said he’s looking forward to having her back.

Coach Hines said Dahl received her nomination thanks to her “shear effort on the field.”

He recalled the senior played a strong defense.

“Her dedication, effort and desire for the team, as well as the game, will be missed next year,” Hines said of the senior’s time on the team.

Rodarte did not get to play much this season, but was still heavily involved in the program. She suffered a season-ending injury during their second match, at a preseason tournament in Winnemucca. Hines said she stayed with the team, though, and was at almost every practice and game, only missing them due to doctor’s appointments. While she was out of the season, she still participated in the matches by keeping the scorebook.

Molina was another powerhouse as goalkeeper for the boys’ team. He made 42 saves, only allowing 16 goals through. Ugalde played a strong offense, scoring six points for the Greenwave and stealing the ball seven times.

Fallon boys’ coach Nathan Toigo said he’s happy Molina was selected. He said the goalie will only get better over time and gain the attention of other coaches. Toigo also said Ugalde earned his selection; the coach feels he’ll be a key player and a leader of the team next year.
