Surrounded by his loved ones, Jose passed away in his home on 5/22/17.
Jose was born in Entrambasaguas Galicia Spain. He was the seventh of eight children to parents Manuel Barrio & Maria Bruzos. At the age of 27, Jose came to Lancaster CA as a sheepherder for Barbara Aznarez in Lancaster CA. He continued to make Lancaster his home for 55 years then moved to Carson City, Nevada in 2012. In Carson City Nevada, Jose enjoyed companionship with cherished friends in the Basque community and weekly Mus playing. Always by his side, his wife and best friend Maritxu Barrio.
Jose is survived by his wife Maritxu Barrio of San Sebastián Spain; sons, Carl Barrio & Louis Barrio; step-children,Maria Lion, Robert Clift, John Clift, Sue Clift, Rodney Collins; grandchildren, Patrick Hughes, Samuel Hughes, Amanda Clift, & Amaia Clift.
A memorial service will be held June 3rd at 10:00 am at St. Gall Church, 1343 Centerville Lane, Gardnerville, NV 89410.
A heartfelt thank you to the angels at St. Mary’s Hospice for the compassion and care our family and Jose received from angels here on earth.
