Thank you, city officials, for downtown renovation

I wish to complement Mayor Bob Crowell, the Board of Supervisors, City Manager Nick Marano and the Carson City staff for the new face on Carson Street.

The last several months my wife and I have walked the street several times watching the construction, like good sidewalk engineers, checking the progress. It is well designed and worthy of a great capital city.

In the mid 1980s the Tourism Authority, now known as the Visitors Bureau, did a survey of visitors to our community. One of the main concerns expressed by tourists was the traffic on Carson Street in proximity to the sidewalk. It is nice to see this will no longer be an issue and we can now have sidewalks and areas that are pedestrian friendly.

As we have traveled to many of our neighboring communities it always surprises me to see streets being paved and the following year torn up to replace water or sewer lines. I’m happy to see the staff rolled all the work into one package making the replacement of the clay sewer lines much more economical over the long run.

Mayor Crowell, Carson City Board of Supervisors and Carson City staff, thank you for addressing and solving the challenges in our community and for a job well done investing in our city’s future.
