John A. Robinson

John passed away unexpectedly at his home in Dayton on Feb. 14, 2016. He was born Aug. 31, 1937 in Hollywood, CA. to George & Marjorie Robinson. His family moved to Lake Tahoe when he was 9 years old. He graduated from a small school of 15 students at Lake Valley Elementary.

John loved life. He enjoyed working, shoveling snow at Tahoe at a young age. He started his first job when he was 10 years old, driving an old dump truck and also laid pipe with his dad. In the winter of 1951 he pursued his dream of becoming an Olympic snow skier. In 1955 he was picked to go and train for the Olympic team at Sugar Bowl. The same year he went to a competition in Utah. The next competition was in Aspen, Co. where he lost control, fell and shattered his leg. That was the end of his career. He recovered at Lake Tahoe with his parents. Not long after his recovery he was working again. He went into the construction business. In the winter he taught children how to ski and became the coach of the Heavenly Valley South Shore High Ski Team. He continued his construction business, later moving down to Carson Valley. John had many hobbies, he made beautiful bowls, salt & pepper shakers & everything else he could think of.

In 1983 he married Virginia (Ginny) Depoali.They would have been married for 33 years in April. They had a good marriage, traveled, laughed & made a lot of friends. John never met a stranger. He will be missed so very much by all. He is survived by his son Dan Robinson (Ingrid), daughter Dianna Garnett (Scott), step-sons Rod, Mark (Kim) & Scott Kuhlman, 8 grandchildren & 6 great grandchildren. He loved them all & they loved him.

There will be a Celebration of Life on March 19, from 1pm-3pm at Glen Eagles in Carson City.
