Carson City businesswoman finalist for eBay Award

Tanya Crew, owner of Carson City’s Motorcycle Works, has been selected as a finalist for eBay’s new SHINE Awards for Small Business in the woman-owned business category.

eBay selected 15 nominees from more than 1,500 entries, but the public chooses which business owners win ‘Best in Class’ through online voting. The nominees will be honored, and the Best in Class winners and one Grand Prize Winner will be announced July 26-29 during OPEN 2016, eBay’s annual seller celebration, in Las Vegas.

Crew began selling motorcycle accessories out of her college apartment more than 13 years ago. As a single mom and student, she was looking to make some extra money for tuition and bills. She chose to start her online store with eBay because set up was quick, selling was easy, and there were many buyers on the site. Thirteen years later, she’s put her own son through college, and instead of working at home, she runs her business out of a 2,500 square foot warehouse.

eBay launched the Shine Awards for Small Business in 2016 to recognize the achievements of small businesses within the eBay community. Categories include Woman-Owned business, Growing Business, Global Business, Charitable Business, and Family Business. Voting for the deserving winners across all categories is open to the public until July 11 at http://ebay.promotionexpert.com/smbofyear/.
