RENO — The Carson Blue Jays, thanks to an 11-run fifth inning, grabbed a 15-5 mercy rule win over the Elko Baseball Club Friday afternoon in their second pool play game of the Reno A’s Invitational at Bishop Manogue High School.
Carson plays twice today — 9 a.m. vs. McQueen and 5 p.m. vs. Douglas. The Blue Jays will play one game on Sunday at a time to be determined.
Carson trailed 5-4 entering the bottom of the fifth. The Blue Jays sent 16 batters to the plate in their outburst, using seven hits, three walk, two hit batters and an error to win the game.
Bryce Moyle started the uprising with a two-run double and he scored on an error. Brandon Gagnon drove in three with a bases-loaded double and Jace Keema plated Gagnon with a single to make it 11-5. A bases-loaded walk to Colby Zemp made it 12-5, and then Jason Artz hit a run-scoring single, Luke Myers was hit by a pitch to score a run and Kahle Good singled home a run.
Keema went 4-for-4 with three runs and two RBI, while Myers and Good had two hits apiece.
