Future firefighters got the opportunity to practice their ladder training Wednesday in Carson City.

As a part of Carson Fire Department’s fire academy, the 13 trainees got to practice going up in the aerial ladders off of Second and Stewart Streets. The ladders can reach more than 100 feet into the air and are used to fight fires from above.

The fire fighters practiced climbing the 100 feet to get to the basket at the end of the ladder. The Carson Fire Academy features trainees from Carson City, North Tahoe, Incline Village and East Fork.
