Edy Prudensio Martinez-Ramirez identified as driver in College Parkway fatal crash

Edy (Eddie) Prudensio Martinez-Ramirez, 21, was identified as the man who died following a crash that occurred last Thursday on College Parkway in Carson City.

The Nevada Highway Patrol’s initial report said a 2004 Ford F150 pickup was stolen from a residence in Carson City by Martinez-Ramirez.

At 7:48 p.m., deputies received reports of a hit and run accident near Brown Street and Edmonds Drive, involving a yellow Ford 150 pickup truck. Deputies located and attempted to pull over a suspected stolen vehicle near the Maverick Gas Station around 7:54 p.m. when Martinez-Ramirez fled the area at high speed.

As the vehicle was traveling eastbound on College Parkway, Martinez-Ramirez lost control and traveled across both the eastbound travel lanes, across the raised center median and the westbound travel lanes, the crash investigation determined. Then the pick-up then traveled over the sidewalk and through the perimeter fence of the Carson City Airport where it struck the corner of an airport hangar.

Martinez-Ramirez was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene. He was not wearing his seatbelt, NHP said.

The Nevada Highway Patrol is investigating the accident scene while the Nevada DPS Investigation Division is investigating the remainder of the incident.
