Letters to the editor for Friday, Jan. 5, 2016

Thane Cornell wrote the following poem after watching the Republican presidential candidates debate on Jan. 28.

Change, change, change!

“Change! Change! Change!

My whole life is nothing but change, change, change!”

Moaned the window dresser of a major department store.

“Change! Change! Change!”

Shouted the tire repairman of an automotive company.

“Nothing but change, change, change!”

Then, lo and behold, a former U.S. president

In a major, recent televised political address,

Cleverly stated, “Change, change, change,

That’s all I have left is nothing but a lot of

Change, change, change,” as he purposely

Patted his dress pants pockets.

The question remains unchanged,

What will everybody be left with at the end of a long day?

Hopefully, more than just a lot of loosely vocalized change.
