Gladys Langson Veitch

Born September 3, 1921 in Omaha, Nebraska to Bessie and John Krage. Passed into Heaven March 23, 2016 in Carson City, Nevada. Gladys attended North High School in Omaha where she met and married the love of her life, Don Richard Langson in 1941. They produced three sons, Don Langson of Carson City, Richard Langson of Newport Beach, California and Bruce Langson of Las Vegas. Gladys was an involved and amazing Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother. She served as a Cub Scout Den Mother, as President of the PTA in Anaheim, California, was on the Board of Directors of the Salvation Army and worked assisting the BPOE (Elks) for years. Gladys worked in the family building business as Designer and Interior Designer. Gladys and Don built a home and apartment building business in California and Nevada. One of their notable Brands of homes was the “Storybook Homes” subdivisions which include the homes currently on the North Property boundary of the Governors Mansion in Carson City, Nevada. Gladys became widowed in 1977. In 1980 Gladys married Robert Veitch in Houston Texas where they became avid dancers in ballroom and square dance. “She is like dancing with a feather”, was a comment given by a dancing partner. They lived traveled and entertained in Houston until moving to Carson City in 2000. Gladys enjoyed her grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, gardening (she could raise Orchids in Northern Nevada), cooking and all activities in Carson City. She was a strong supporter of the Northern Nevada Republican Party and built the Elephant for a float used in the Nevada Day Parade. Gladys was a lifelong artist enjoying Oil Painting as well as other media types for canvas. She was a great cook with such specialties as Red Velvet Cake, Cheese Blintze’s and Rhubarb Pie. She believed in physical training throughout her life and enjoyed a Personal Trainer until she was 92. She was an avid snow and water skier as well as loved riding on motorcycles, flying, fishing, camping and most of all she was afflicted with FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out). She was always ready for an adventure. Gladys was a singer and dancer in the Carson City Senior Follies from 20-- to 2014. She was one of the ‘Carson City Calendar Girls’ Models for a cancer fund raiser benefiting another lovely family in Carson City. Gladys is survived by her brother John Krage, Sons; Don, Richard and Bruce Langson, Daughter in law Cathy Langson(wife of Bruce), Grandchildren; Ninette Goucher, Julie Cowan, Shelly Plaut, Duke Langson, Ryan Langson and Nicole Terry, and 15 Great Grandchildren; . Service will be April 2nd at the LDS Church, 1331 McKay Drive, Carson City, Nevada, viewing 11-12 AM, Service Noon. Internment at Lone Mountain Cemetery will immediately following service. Food will be provided by the LDS Relief Society at 1 PM in the Relief Society Room. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Toni Langson Rotary Youth Scholarship, P.O. Box 21022 Carson City, Nevada 89721. Arrangements are in the trusted care of Autumn Funerals & Cremations.
