Cheers & Kudos: ESL thanks community for funding support

Students who earned achievement certificates for learning English language skills.

The ESL In-Home Program of Northern Nevada wishes to extend its gratefulness to those wonderful donors who contributed to www.gofundme.com/eslinhome so that instructional material could be purchased to start new students from our huge wait-list of people anxious to learn English.

The students pictured who have received achievement certificates for learning English language skills are grateful as well. They have progressed to finding jobs, advancing in current employment, parents now helping their children with homework and other school activities, communicating with teachers and medical personnel without interpreters, understanding clerks in English-speaking stores, and becoming U.S. citizens — all through their dedication and commitment to continue in our program with the hard work of their volunteer tutors.

Because of a desire expressed, we have started computer literacy classes in all counties where our program exists (Carson, Washoe, Douglas, Lyon and Churchill counties). These accomplishments are the rewards for the donors that keep this program growing. School teachers are commending us for helping to make their ESL classes easier and the schools running smoother, which is of need to happen in K-12. Of course, more community volunteer tutors are needed. We train you in one hour. Call for application: 775-888-2021.

Again, many thanks,

Florence Phillips

Executive director of ESL In-Home Program of Northern Nevada
