Nevada gasoline pump prices dropped 5.5 cents per gallon on average in the past week, according to a survey released Monday.

The price in the survey of 1,130 retail outlets across the state skidded to $2.76 a gallon in the comparison between Sunday and a week earlier, GasBuddy.com reported. The gas monitoring website said a national survey during the same period put the price on average throughout the country at $2.20 a gallon, down 5.2 cents.

In Carson City on Monday, the price at more than 20 stations ranged from a low of $2.16 to a high of $2.67 per gallon.

The Nevada price average as of Sunday was 45.2 cents per gallon lower than on the same date a year earlier, and it was 18.4 cents per gallon lower than a month earlier.

A petroleum analyst for the website peered into November and saw that more lowering of motor fuels pricing is possible.

โ€œAs refineries finish up their planned and in some cases unplanned โ€” notably in the Midwest โ€” rounds of maintenance, gasoline should return to the pumps at very high levels,โ€ said Jeff Pelston of GasBuddy.com. โ€œThat, coupled with the lower demand that comes with the fall season, should push November retail prides to fall another 10 to 12 cents.โ€
