Nevada DMV says wait times drop with new staff

DMV officials say the new staff approved by the 2015 Legislature have helped reduce wait times at the state’s busiest metropolitan offices by 65 percent.

The four Las Vegas offices dropped from 107 minutes on average to 42 minutes and the Reno office cut waiting from 126 minutes to 23 on average.

Outgoing Director Troy Dillard said lawmakers approved 75 new positions for DMV. He said those staffers are now trained and on the job.

In addition, he said the agency is recording record use of alternative services that don’t require people to actually visit a DMV office.

The Carson City office wasn’t listed because that office traditionally has a much shorter wait time than the metropolitan offices.
