Teresa (Terry) Keller Weldon

July 3, 1949 - July 24, 2015

After a valiant battle with cancer, Terry passed away peacefully at her home on July 3, 2015. Terry will not be remembered for this battle; she will be remembered by her bright smile, kind nature, and love of life. Born on July 24, 1949 in Fallon, NV she lived between the communities of Empire, Gerlach and Fallon in her childhood and adulthood. Having moved to Empire, NV in 1971 after graduating from the University of Nevada, Reno, she begin a 36 year teaching career at E.M. Johnson Elementary in the Empire and Gerlach area. She taught every elementary grade from kindergarten through sixth grade and was known for her enthusiasm, care, and love of her students. In 1973, she married the love of her life, Clifford Weldon. They had one child, Amy Weldon, in 1976. Terry was a devoted mother and wife. Family was “her life” and in 2012, she welcomed her first grandchild, Emerson Weldon-Word. Terry was preceded in death by her father, Robert Keller, and mother Evelyn (Walker) Locke. In Terry’s retirement, she was an active member of many clubs and organizations including PEO, AAUW, garden and book clubs. She volunteered at the Churchill County Senior Center and had a passion for local arts and entertainment activities. A positive, compassionate person, Terry truly never met a stranger. She delighted in the many strong relationships she helped cultivate and nurture through the years. We hope that her life will serve as an example to enjoy every moment and live life to the fullest! In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Churchill County Museum in her honor.

Services will be held on Friday, July 10, 2015 at 11:00 in the morning at Smith Family Funeral Home. A reception will follow at the Fallon Convention Center.
