The Minden Soaring Club has awarded scholarships to four local youths to pay for flight and ground instruction toward getting their private glider licenses.
The scholarships, worth $1,000 apiece, were awarded at the club’s annual general meeting.
The winners are Jordan Wass, Spencer Karam, Peter Hensley and Cole Pinther.
Those recipients will also be eligible to seek an additional $500 award to pay for costs of taking written and flight tests to get their licenses.
The club is a non profit corporation organized to promote soaring in western Nevada and to improve pilot safety through training and education.
