Speed up plane production. Inglewood, Calif., North American Aviation revealed its warplanes are being custom-tailored for specific combat duty. “Buy more bonds today!”

Edwin V. Fettic. Funeral services were held for longtime resident, Edwin V. Fettic, 78, who was born in Genoa and operated a store and served as postmaster. Mr. and Mrs. Fettic had been married 56 years. Fettic is survived by wife, Jennie; and two brothers.

Fireworks. The skies will sparkle as a 400-position firing panel goes off. Jack Davis, owner of Pyro-Spectaculars of Sacramento, who is staging the show, will start small, then work bigger and end with a grand finale.
