Carson City Photo Club meets today

All levels of photographers are welcome to attend Carson City Photo Club’s next meeting from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at the Carson City Sheriff’s Office on Musser Street.

Attendees are asked to use the building’s west entrance.

BAC to host screening of indie film Friday

A screening of Josh Mitchell’s independent film “Lack of Cockery” will be at 7 p.m. Friday in the Brewery Arts Center’s Performance Hall, 511 W. King St.

The film follows the story of Jimmy Jollins, a venture capitalist who enlists Jaysin Downey, an indie singer, to swap lives with him. When Jollins meets Kelli Nova, he questions his own perspective on identity and love.

Seating will be limited and will be on a first come, first served basis.

Copies of the DVD will be raffled, and soft drinks, bottled water and snacks will be available for purchase. All proceeds go to BAC programs.

Poker tournament helps area families with medical bills

The ninth annual poker tournament for the Josh Farler Helping Hands Foundation, sponsored by the Knights of Columbus Council 6688, will be held this year on Saturday, March 14, at Mason Valley Boys and Girls Clubs.

Tickets are available from any Knights of Columbus Council 6688 board member. Food and refreshments will be served.

The Josh Farler Helping Hands Foundation helps families who face financial difficulties due to medical bills insurance doesn’t cover.

The Knight of Columbus Council 6688 also provides support to other organizations.
