RENO — The Nevada baseball team’s perfect season continued Saturday afternoon at Peccole Park as the Wolf Pack (6-0, 2-0) defeated Fresno State (3-3, 0-2), 12-7. Nevada reached double figure scoring for the second time this season with nine hits and two home runs.

After winning the series opener with a 10th inning walk-off home run, the Wolf Pack cruised to a victory in game two after opening a 6-2 lead in the third inning. Senior Kyle Hunt and junior Bryce Greager led Nevada with two hits and one home run apiece. Junior Sam Held earned the win on the mound in relief of starter Jordan Deitrich.

After freshman Cal Stevenson doubled and senior Kewby Meyer singled for Nevada, the Bulldogs walked in four runs with the bases loaded in the seventh. Senior catcher Jordan Devencenzi capped the damage with an RBI sac fly, pushing Nevada’s lead to 12-4.

The Bulldogs plated two runs in the eighth before scoring one run in the ninth and loading the bases. With the game-tying run on deck, Carson High graduate Adam Whitt struck out the only batter he faced to earn his third save of the season.

Greager led the Wolf Pack bats with four RBI and two runs scored, while Hunt added one RBI and three runs. Howell tallied two RBI and two runs. For the second straight game, senior Austin Byler was walked three times and hit by a pitch.

The series finale between the Wolf Pack and Bulldogs is scheduled for 1 p.m. today at Peccole Park.
