Gladys Evelyn Josephsen Matson





Gladys Evelyn Josephsen Matson was born on December 30, 1922 to Anna and Joseph Josephsen in Mountain Ranch, California. The youngest of 4 children, she was a joy to all that she met. Gladys attended schools in Mountain Ranch and San Andreas, Ca and college in Stockton before marrying Jim (James) Matson on June 7, 1941 in Carson City, Nevada. Gladys and Jim eloped to Carson City with lifelong friends Milton and Jeanne Jasper and they remained close throughout their lives. Gladys and Jim moved from California to Paradise Valley, Nevada in 1952 where they raised their children, Jimmy (Jim) and Laura while living on several ranches. Gladys and Jim left Paradise Valley in 1962, moving to Fallon, Nevada where they lived for many years. Gladys moved to Goodyear, AZ to reside with her daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Ted Blair in April 2014. Gladys was a member of the Epworth Methodist Church in Fallon, Rebekah Lodge in Paradise Valley as well as many volunteer organization. Gladys loved to help any way she could and along with her dear friends Alice Fuhlendorf and Ruby (Mark) Lee, she was an encouragement to so many people she met. Gladys never met a stranger and she loved so many close friends, far more than there is room to mention. Gladys is preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Jim, her son Jim, her parents, two brothers, Howard (Lois) and Carl Josephsen and her sister Catherine Myrtle Mecca. Gladys is survived by her daughter Laura (Ted) Blair, grandchildren Tamaron Wright, Vareck Wright, Joe Matson, Nicholas Matson, great grandchildren, Anthony and Brooke Leavitt, Tevin, Breanna and CJ Wright, several nieces and nephews and many wonderful friends.
