The Nevada State Railroad Museum is offering tickets in advance for its annual Santa Train.

Santa Claus is spending two weekends aboard the train at the Nevada State Railroad Museum from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 13-14 and 20-21.

The historic and picturesque V&T Railway steam locomotive No. 25 pulls Santa Train, departing Carson City’s Wabuska Depot at the corner of Fairview Drive and Carson Street.

This year’s event offers tickets in advance to provide priority boarding on the day of the event.

A priority boarding line will allow customers who purchase advance tickets for the day specified to go to the front of the line for the next train. Guests can see model train layouts from the Carson City Railroad Association inside the Wabuska Depot. Refreshments by Warren Engine Company will be available for purchase.

Trains run continuously throughout the day in sun, rain or snow. Santa’s team encourages visitors to enjoy the exhibits, magnificently restored locomotives and rolling stock in the museum’s main building before or after riding the Santa Train. The museum’s store is stocked with railroad books, toys, clothing and other Nevada specialty items. The store also offers “Waiting for the Cars,” a book of 3-D railroad images documenting life and places in Nevada and California Gold Country in the 1860s.

Original stereoscope cards and new 3-D versions are shown side by side.

All seats are $3 and children 2 and younger are free when riding on the lap of an adult. Tickets are available at the museum store from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday through Monday and can also be purchased at the event. Museum admission is $6 for adults, free for those 17 and younger and for members.

The museum is at 2180 S. Carson St. For more information, call 775-687-6953, or go to the museum’s Facebook page.
