Avery’s saloon is the largest establishment of the kind in the state. The barroom is 30-by-40 and game room 40-by-40. It is decorated with aesthetic wallpaper and Japanese bric-a-brac, lighted by Casperson’s electric lamp and communication from the bar to the rest of the house is by electric wires. The opening night will be signalized by a general whoop up of the bibulous and the anniversary of the birthday of the Republic.

Perry Comeaux was named by Gov. Dick Bryan to run the state Taxation Department. He is currently assistant state prison director.

Sue Ballew is the daughter of Bill Dolan, who wrote this column for the Nevada Appeal from 1947 until his death in 2006.
