Pack ends 5-game skid

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Deonte Burton scored 21 points on 6-of-7 shooting, and Jerry Evans Jr. finished with 11 points and 13 rebounds as Nevada surged past Air Force 75-56 on Saturday.

The Wolf Pack (13-15, 8-7 Mountain West) shot 51.9 percent from the field and outrebounded Air Force 39-30. Michael Perez scored 12 points and Cole Huff added 11 with eight boards.

Air Force (10-15, 4-10) was held to 22-of-58 shooting (37.9 percent) and went 5 of 23 beyond the arc. Tre’ Coggins led the Falcons with 14 points and Max Yon had 12.

Nevada jumped out to an early 10-0 lead as Burton and Evans each sank a 3-pointer. The Falcons crawled back to make it a six-point game, 35-29 at the break.

A 19-7 Wolf Pack surge in the second half capped by an Evans jumper made it 64-45 with 4:36 remaining.

The Wolf Pack held Air Force to 36.7 percent shooting from the field, including 20 percent (5-25) from 3-point range. Air Force hit just seven-of-15 free throws.

NOTES: The win snapped a five-game Pack losing streak ... The 19-point win was the largest margin of victory for Nevada this year ... Nevada put four players — Burton, Evans Jr,, Huff and Perez into double figures. It’s the 13th time this year that has happened. Nevada is 8-5 when four players score in double figures ... With his 21 points, Burton becomes the second player in school history to score 2,000 points. He has 2,016 which is secondf to Nick Fazekas’ total of 2,464. Burton has started all 126 games of his Nevada career.

... Coach David Carter is now 87-73 in his fifth season at Nevada.
