Community Sports: Two aces at Eagle Valley

On back-to-back days, holes-in-one were recorded at Eagle Valley golf course.

On Jan. 21, Sparks resident Lloyd Courtright aced No. 7 on the West course using an 8-iron. It was the first ace of his career. The shot, according to playing partner Dan Abbett, was right on line off the tee. The shot landed 10 feet from the flag and rolled in.

On Jan. 22, Mary Bondietti of Carson City used a driver to ace the par-3 8th hole. According to witnesses, the ball landed on the fringe and rolled into the cup. It was her first-ever ace.


Eagle Valley wins 2

The Eagle Valley Middle School volleyball team won two matches last week. EV beat Fallon 25-23 and 25-20 and South Tahoe 20-25, 25-10 and 15-12.

Haley Garver had nine service points, three aces and five kills against Fallon. Hannah Pembrook had two kills and three digs while Ashley Britt contributed four points, including two aces. Yanitzia Perez had tree service points and eight assists.

Against South Tahoe, Garver had 17 service points, including nine aces and four kills. Britt had 12 points and a kill plus two aces. Pembrook contributed a kill and seven service points while Perez had six service points, eight assists and two kills. Arisbet Vazquez had six service points.
