Swimmers, golfers back in action

The Fallon swim teams netted their first dual wins of the season in a tri-meet against Truckee and North Tahoe last week.

The Fallon boys team sank North Tahoe, 105-12, while the Lady Wave won, 145-72, and narrowly lost to Truckee, 113-108. The boys fell to Truckee, 122-73.

Fallon returns to the pool today for a meet in Incline against Sparks.

Last week, though, the Lady Wave were led by a trio of wins from Sierra Bivens and Katrina Ward. Bivens notched victories in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle races (30.49 seconds and 1:08.31, respectively), while Ward took the 500 free with a mark of 6:44.85.

In addition to Bivens, Josie Bekiares finished third (31.25) and Amber Revels was fourth (33.15) in the 50 free. In the 100 free, the Lady Wave recorded four of the top five finishes as Kaelehn Nemeth took second (1:09.45), Bekiares was fourth (1:11.39) and Danielle Brown placed fifth (1:16.18). Nemeth was also third in 200 individual medley (3:01.12).

Addyson Harmon added a second-place finish in the 200 free (2:54.65) and took third in the 100 backstroke (1:26.93), while Josey Moore placed third in the 200 free (2:55.29).

Ward capped the individual performances with a fourth-place finish in the 100 butterfly (1:14.04).

The boys, meanwhile, were led by a win from Kyle Grimes in the 50 free (24.15). The Wave also took second in four other races as Grimes was runner-up in the 100 fly (1:08.03) followed by Nathan Narag in the 200 free (2:42.65) and 100 free (1:07.92) and Austin Thomas in the 100 breaststroke (1:27.41).

Garrett Snooks added a third-place finish in the 200 IM (3:03.87), while Thomas was fourth in the 100 free (1:12.76).


Golf back on links

The Fallon boys golf returned to action Thursday with a Northern Division I-A tournament in Elko.

The Wave continues league play today at Spring Creek. Fallon ends the season in May with matches at South Tahoe and Truckee.

The Wave is coming off a two-week hiatus after playing their last match at Sparks. Fallon placed seventh out of eight schools with a team score of 498.

Currently, the Wave sit in sixth place with 11 points behind league leader Lowry (27), Elko (23), Spring Creek (22), Fernley (17) and Truckee (14).

Corbin Waite leads the Fallon golfers with a 90.3 average through three tournaments. He is followed by Jeff Evett (92.7), Braxton Hunter (96.7), Austin Rash (96.7) and Raymond Plasse (100.3).

Charles Beyers is carrying a 99.5 average through two tournaments, while Mike Richards shot a 108 at the Sparks match.
