Obituary: William “Bill” Lee Roy DeBusk

September 21, 1935 - September 4, 2013

Bill was born Sep. 21, 1935 to Roy Hubert and Martha Allene DeBusk in Sweetwater, TX where he was raised and graduated from Sweetwater High School in 1953. He passed peacefully with his family by his side Sep. 4th.

After high school he worked for the US Gypsum Co. and in the oil fields before entering into the US Navy in 1956. In 1958 he was stationed at NAS Alameda, Alameda, CA where he met his bride of 55 years on a weekend liberty to Carson City, NV. He married Rosanna Parker on March 9, 1958 in Carson City where they made their home after he was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1960.

Once settled in the Carson area, Bill worked at James Canyon Ranch Creamery and in the construction field as a carpenter before settling into a career with the US Forest Service at the Clear Creek Job Corp in 1968. Bill later worked as a Construction and Maintenance Foreman out of the Reno office once the Job Corp was closed. Following a partial disability retirement from the Forest Service he began his second career in sales for the paint industry before fully retiring in 2004.

Bill’s passion for his community was directed through service organizations and youth sports. Nothing compared to his undying devotion to his kids, grandkids and great-grandchild. On any given weekday or weekend you would find Bill in attendance of a school play, dance recital, ice skating competition, swim meet, wrestling tournament, high school rodeo, track meet, football, basketball, baseball or soccer game.

Bill was preceded in death by both his parents and brother, Paul DeBusk. He is survived by his wife, Rosanna Parker DeBusk of Carson City, NV; sons, Mike (Netti) DeBusk of Smith Valley, NV, Mark (Karen) DeBusk of Carson City, NV; sister, Darlene Long of Lubbock, TX; sister-in-law, Gayle DeBusk of Houston, TX. In addition he is survived by his grandchildren, Mikayla, Tanner and Jacob DeBusk; Kirsten DeBusk Reed (Glenn), Courtney DeBusk, Caitlin, Amy, Michelle and Meghan Harrison; great grandson, Hunter Reed and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at FitzHenry’s Funeral Home in Carson City on Saturday Sep. 21, 2013 at 2 p.m. In honor of his 78th birthday the family will be hosting a “Birthday Celebration” immediately following the service.
