Obituary: Duane Lynn Snyder

November 16, 1936 - October 16, 2013

Duane Lynn Snyder of Carson City, Nevada passed away at his home on October 16, 2013 following a brief hospitalization. Burial will be at Lone Oak Cemetery in Carson City and a memorial service will be held at Carson Masonic Lodge No. 1 at a future date. Autumn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

He was born on November 16, 1936 in Akron, Ohio, moving to Stow, Ohio at a young age. He graduated from Stow High School in 1954 and briefly attended Kent State University before joining the U.S. Navy in 1955 . Following his discharge, he moved to Fairbanks, Alaska where he worked for the Satellite Tracking Station at the University of Alaska. In 1967, he moved to California and spent the next few years working in the Los Angeles area. He became active in Masonry during this period and was a member of the Van Nuys Lodge where he held several positions.

Moving to Carson City in 1994, he continued his Masonic activities with the Carson City Lodge. At the time of his death, he was the Secretary of Lewis Chapter Royal Arch Masons, Recorder of Capital Council Cryptic Masons and E. C. Peterson Commandery Knights Templar. He also served many times as Worthy Patron of Esther Chapter Order of the Eastern Star.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lynn V. and Elma V. Snyder, and brother, James D. Snyder, all of Stow, Ohio. Survived by sister, Virginia (Ginny) and brother-in-law, Jim Suter of Union City, Tennessee.
