Carson City teen accused of assaulting, molesting children to be tried as adult

A 16-year-old Carson City boy will be tried as an adult in district court on one count of sexual assault against a child under 14 and one count of lewdness with a child under 14.

The teen was certified as an adult April 1 following the recommendation of the juvenile master and a hearing in front of Judge James Wilson Jr., according to court documents.

The Nevada Appeal is not naming him because he is a juvenile.

The teen pleaded not guilty to both counts Tuesday in district court.

The trial was set for Feb. 5-7.

He faces life with the possibility of parole after 10 years on each count.

He is accused of assaulting two cousins, ages 4 and 6, and molesting a 10-year-old cousin.

The teen told investigators he was the children’s babysitter over the previous summer and at various other parts of the year and abused the children while they were sleeping, court documents state.
